Mr. Nathan Earl Woolard, age 76, a resident of 789 Deerwood Lane, Washington died Thursday morning October 15, 2009 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday October 18, 2009 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Mike Caton and Fred Wilson. Burial will follow in the Nathan Woolard Family Cemetery. Don Michael Woolard, Jr., Neil Woolard, Floyd Alligood, Jr., Sterling Woolard, Ray Hope and Chubby Woolard will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Real People Band, Alton Toler, Edmund Ipock, Timmy Fisher and William Barr will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on August 6, 1933, son of the late Lonnie C. Woolard and Verna Everson Woolard. On May 25, 1952, he married the former Josephine Woolard who survives. Mr. Woolard was self-employed as a grading contractor. He was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ, Tau Tribe No. 18, Improved Order of Red Men and Washington Moose Lodge #1800.
In addition to his wife, Josephine, of the home, he is survived by his daughter Judy Woolard Humphries and her husband, Michael; two grandsons: Eric Nathan Humphries and Jason Michael Humphries both of Greenville, SC; four sisters: Dorothy Alligood, Laura Clark, Verna Paul and her husband Robert, Merle Lou Nobles and her husband, Johnny; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two infant babies, two brothers: Harley Woolard and J.T. Woolard and his sister: Edna W. Woolard.
The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home located at 789 Deerwood Lane, Washington, NC.
