Mrs. Effie Lilley Cooper, age 90, a resident of 8205 NC Hwy 99 North, Pantego, NC died Friday October 16, 2009 at Plumblee Nursing Center of Plymouth, NC.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11a.m. Monday October 19, 2009 at Davis Cemetery officiated by Pastor Bob Moulden. Edward Dunbar, Charlie Davis and Jack Howie Williams, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Cooper was born on November 23, 1918 daughter of the late Johnnie Lemuel Lilley and Mary Allen Lilley. She attended schools in Beaufort County. On February 14, 1937 she married Carson Cecil Cooper, who preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker. During her time at Plumblee, she was known to enjoy the many activities that were offered.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by two daughters: Shirley Taylor of Decatur, Illinois and Effie McNall and husband Russell of the Pungo community, one son: Shelton Thompson Cooper of Washington, five grandchildren: Wayne Taylor, Lisa Deitz, Michelle Williams, Tommy Cooper and Jennifer Tuten four great-grandchildren: Angela Taylor, Michelle Taylor, Carley Williams and Trey Williams, and two great-great-grandchildren: Lilley Grace Tuten and Nicholis McCay.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cooper is preceded in death by two sons: Carson Cecil Cooper, Jr. and Cecil Marion Cooper, a brother: Johnnie Lemuel Lilley, Jr. two sisters: Syble Shepard and Lola Tooley and one granddaughter: Pamela Tuten.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home of her daughter, Effie McNall, located at 8288 NC Hwy 99 North, Pantego, NC 27860.
