Amy ODell Causby Peters, age 64, a longtime resident of Washington Park, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 after an extended illness associated with Alzheimers Disease.
Amy was born September 14, 1945 in Mecklenburg County to Thomas R. Causby and the late Hal Pratt Causby. She grew up in Belmont, N.C. where she graduated from high school there. Amy attended Atlantic Christian College and graduated with a BA degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught school in the Washington City and Beaufort County School Systems for over 25 years. Amy also taught at St. Peters Episcopal Church Day School. She was a member of the St. Peters Episcopal Church and the First Baptist Church of Washington where she was active in the Sunday School program until her retirement due to her illness. Amy was married to A. R. (Pete) Peters III in 1967.
Amy is survived by her husband, A.R. (Pete) Peters III of Bath; two sons, A. R. (Richi) Peters IV and wife Melanie of Burlington, Hal Davis Peters and wife Dana of Washington; one grandson, A.R. (Gus) Peters V; one granddaughter, Ava ODell Peters; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Causby and one step brother, Greg Cline of Belmont, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the home of Hal and Dana Peters, 101 Dudley Place, Smallwood, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a private service for family and close friends to be held at Brown Chapel of St. Peters Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Amys name to the Alzheimers Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605-1351.
