Pack, Panthers, Seahawks in playoffs|Each soccer team will be on the road for first round

Each of the three Beaufort County soccer teams will be playing in the N.C. High School Athletic Association state soccer playoffs. And each of those teams will be on the road for the first round, which begins Wednesday.
Southside will be tangling with the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association (NCSCA) top-ranked team and Northside will be facing the second-ranked team in the Class 1-A playoffs.
PAM PACK
The Washington Pam Pack (10-10-1), the fifth seed from the Coastal Conference, will play at Currituck in the opening round of the Class 3-A state playoffs. The Knights (13-1-2) are the top seed out of the Northeastern Coastal Conference.
The winner advances to play either 11th-ranked Rocky Mount (18-3-2), the No. 2 seed in the Big East Conference, or Charles B. Aycock (17-3-1), the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Carolina Conference, in Saturday’s second round.
PANTHERS
The Northside Panthers (12-6) earned a wild-card berth. The Panthers, out of the Four Rivers Conference, will play at Spring Creek (15-1-1) in the first round of the 1-A state playoffs.
The Gators are the top seed from the Carolina Conference, and are ranked second in the NCSCA poll.
The winner advances to face either 15th-ranked Camden (15-4-2), the No. 2 seed in the Four Rivers Conference, or seventh-ranked Southwest Onslow (11-6-2), the No. 2 seed in the Coastal Plains Conference, in Saturday’s second round.
SEAHAWKS
The Southside Seahawks (11-7) earned a wild-card berth. The Seahawks, a member of the Four Rivers Conference, will play at Dixon (15-5-1) in the first round of the 1-A state playoffs.
The Bulldogs are the top seed from the Coastal Plains Conference, and are ranked first in the NCSCA poll.
The winner advances to face either Red Springs (5-8-1), the Three Rivers Conference top seed, or East Columbus, a wild-card entry from the Three Rivers Conference, in Saturday’s second round.
Tigers face Dixon in Dual Team tourney

The Williamston Tigers, led by the state-qualifying doubles team of Kate Matthews and Sara Chesson, will be looking to move a step closer to a state championship.
The Tigers (14-5), the Four Rivers Conference champions, play host to Dixon (10-2) in today’s third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A Dual Team Tennis tournament. The Bulldogs are the top seed out of the Coastal Plains Conference.
Williamston advanced by posting a 6-0 win over Lejeune in the first round and an 8-1 nod over Gates County in the second round.
The winner advances to father either unbeaten and top-ranked N.C. Science of School and Mathematics (16-0), the Carolina 9 Conference champions, or Ayden-Grifton (8-4), the Carolina Conference champions, in Thursday’s semifinals.
The championship match will be held Saturday in Burlington.
Mizelle, Nall run well
A handful of Washington Pam Pack runners competed in Saturday’s N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A Eastern Regional cross country meet. It was held at Boyd Lee Park in Winterville.
Dylan Mizelle was Washington’s top finisher, taking 54th in 19:24.53.
James Martin finished 106th (21:58.39) and Chris Moore was 118th (23:38.23).
There were 126 runners competing in the meet.
On the girls side, Shelby Nall paced the Pack. She finished in 83rd in 28:12.22.
Brandi Hardison took 89th (28:37.02) out of 105 runners.
