Mrs. Jo Ann Lilley Asby, age 73, a resident of 743 Old Bath Highway, Washington, N.C., died Friday. November 6, 2009. at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Asbury United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Greg Joyner and the Rev. Carolyn Pilgrim. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Michael Holland, James D. Asby III, Chuck Smith, Dwayne Asby, Tony Baker and John Robert Jackson will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Asby was born in Beaufort County on September 16, 1936, daughter of the late Clyde Lilley and the late Ruby Mills Lilley. She was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School and married Gene L. Asby on March 29, 1972, who survives. Mrs. Asby was a bookkeeper with National Spinning Company. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Surviving along with her husband, Gene, of the home, are a brother, Michael Lilley and his wife, Eve, of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Carolyn L. Anderson and her son, Shawn, of Claremont, N.H.; many very special friends including Tony Baker and Gregory Joyner; loving sisters- and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Mrs. Asby was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Lilley.
The family received friends yesterday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will continue to receive friends at the home located at 743 Old Bath Highway, Washington, N.C.
