Mrs. Amy Marie Elks Tripp

GRIMESLAND — Mrs. Amy Marie Elks Tripp, RN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 13, 2009 at her home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Earl Edwards, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Amy was a native of Pitt County and had been a resident of Beaufort County since 1997. She was a 1994 graduate of D.H. Conley High School and a 1999 Nursing graduate of Pitt Community College. She worked as a Pediatric Charge Nurse with the Children’s Hospital of Pitt County Memorial Hospital. For more than 10 years, she proudly considered herself a patient advocate as she cared for many children. She was a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Wilmar and was a previous member of Lifegate Baptist Church.
Amy was a friend to many and will be fondly remembered for her warm smile. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister who greatly cherished her family. The beach was one of her favorite destinations, she loved listening to music, and enjoyed reading her Bible. She touched many lives in her short life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Jimmie Rogers Elks in 1998.
She is survived by, husband of 18 years, Christopher Todd “Chris” Tripp, of the home; daughter, Kristina Marie “Krissy” Tripp and son, Jonathan “Michael” Tripp, both of the home; mother, Faye Elks, of Greenville; sisters, Kathy E. Butler and husband, Stacy, of Stokes, Lisa E. Labinski and husband, Brent, of Ayden and Michelle H. Edwards and husband, Kenneth, of Grimesland; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
The family received friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
