Mrs. Ruth A. Fisher

Mrs. Ruth Alligood Fisher, age 90, a resident of 273 N. Asbury Church Rd. Washington, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Asbury United Methodist Church and will be conducted by Dr. Carolyn Pilgrim.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Beaufort County on October 26, 1919 to the late Absolom and Cynthia Alligood. She married Warren Masters Fisher who preceded her in death. She graduated from high school in Beaufort County, was a graduate of the University of Georgia and completed additional studies in business. She served as staff photographer in the United States Navy on the Islands of Hawaii during World War II. The scenes that she photographed will be displayed at the Smithsonian Institute. She did bookkeeping for Harris Evans Plumbing and D.S. Swain Gas Company. Mrs. Fisher was the eldest member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Kay Borkowski and husband Larry of Simpsonville, SC, her son, Steven Masters Fisher of Greenville, NC and six grandchildren, Ashlee, Matthew, Grace, Luke, Noah and Peter Borkowski. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of Margaret Hudson, 102 Lake Dr., Washington, NC 27889.
