Gail Rose Smith Tetterton, age 63, a resident of Longs, SC, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2009 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Dr. Henry Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour, Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC and other times at the home of her daughter, 103 Woodhaven Way, Washington, NC.
Ms. Tetterton was born in Wayne County, NC on June 2, 1946 to Herman and Lilley Best Smith who preceded her in death. Gail spent most of her childhood in Wayne County before leaving for Cleveland, TN where she attended Lee College. She returned to North Carolina where she worked for 25 years at Samson’s Manufacturing in Washington. This is where she met her husband, Jackie Norman Tetterton, Sr., the father of her children, whom she spent 26 years with. Gail later worked with Lowe’s until retiring in June 2009. She lived in her favorite place, Myrtle Beach, SC, where she could enjoy beach music and spending time at Howard’s on the Beach. Gail enjoyed being around friends and family especially her best friend and niece, Debra Grimes.
She is survived by a daughter, Kim Tetterton Sulc and her husband Doug of Washington; a son, Jackie Norman Tetterton, Jr. and his wife Patsy of Washington; two brothers, Dr. Henry Smith and wife Betty Lou of Cleveland, TN and Wyatt Smith and wife Cathy of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Beulah Davis and husband Wiley of Goldsboro, NC, Bertha Pate of Goldsboro, NC and Glenda Smith and husband David of Saint Pauls, NC; and grandchildren Brandon Marshall Sulc, Kayley Dawn Sulc, Christopher Isaac Sulc, Lee Mark Chandler, Jr., Amanda Gail Woolard and Matthew Ray Tetterton.
