Big night for Wilkins in win|Former area stars continue to shine

Damien Wilkins, a Washington native, is playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves. His big night helped lead the Timberwolves (2-15) to a 106-100 win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
Wilkins had a season-high 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the win. It was his fourth career double-double. He also had a season-high 6 assists.
Wilkins is averaging 3.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals per game.

Jordan Cantrell, a former standout player at Washington High School and Terra Ceia, is playing at Randolph-Macon.

Ralph Biggs, a former star at Washington High school, is playing for Krasnie Krilya Samara in Russia.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL
C.J. WILSON
C.J. Wilson, the Conference USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, came up with the play of the game for East Carolina in Saturday’s 25-20 win over Southern Miss, which gave the Pirates the Conference USA East division. Wilson blocked a PAT and returned it 75 yards for 2 points and a 22-20 ECU lead.
He finished with three tackles, four quarterback hurries and the block.
Wilson, a former star at Northside High School, has 53 tackles, including 9.5 tackles-for-loss (38 yards), 5.5 sacks (19 yards in loss), 12 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks this season.
In his career, Wilson has 188 tackles, 27 sacks, 44.5 tackles-for-loss, 33 quarterback hurries and four blocked kicks.
The Pirates (8-4, 7-1 C-USA) play host to Houston in the C-USA championship game Saturday at noon.
TERRANCE COPPER
Terrance Copper, a former standout at Washington High School, is playing with the Kansas City Chiefs. He didn’t have any stats in Kansas City’s 43-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.
Copper has two catches for 11 yards, and 10 special teams tackles this season.
The Chiefs (3-8) play host to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
