Mr. Larry Dale Woolard, age 61, loving husband, Daddy, Granddaddy and “Pops”, of 8735 North Boyd Road, Pinetown died Wednesday December 2, 2009 at his home after fighting a courageous battle.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday December 5, 2009 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Mike Caton and Curtis White. Burial will follow in the Wallace Family Cemetery. Ted Wallace, Octavius Wallace, Mac Daniels, Edwin “Booger” Harris, William Earl Woolard, George Elliott, J.C. Roelofs and Elgin Wallace will serve as pallbearers. Toby Wallace, Larry Boyd, Neil Alligood and Tommy Foster will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on November 14, 1948 son of Lillian Ward Woolard and the late Levin T. Woolard. He married the former Barbara Rae Cox on October 27, 1967. Mr. Woolard served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic. He retired after working 35 years for Weyerhaeuser as a master heavy equipment operator and farmed full time for a number of years. Mr. Woolard was past secretary of Pinetown Rescue and E.M.S., a member of V.F.W. Post # 6088 and a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.
Mr. Woolard is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; a daughter, Stacy Dawn Woolard Brooks and her husband Jason of Bath; two grandchildren, Tanner Scott Brooks and Haley Maloy Brooks of Bath; his mother, Lillian Ward Woolard; three brothers, Holton Gene Woolard and his wife Brenda of Washington, Kenneth Ray Woolard of Portsmouth, VA and Tony Glenn Woolard and his wife Natalie of Washington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Levin T. Woolard.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday December 4, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Tanner and Haley Brooks, Education Fund, to honor their Granddaddy. Memorials should be made payable to Edward Jones and directed to Kelly Crisp, c/o Edward Jones, 106 E. 15th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
