Mrs. Sheila Florence Hodges Tyson, age 59, a resident of 9199 Hwy. 17 N., Washington, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and will be conducted by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Drew Smith, Will Smith, Dennis Smith, Troy Tyson, Steve Canady and Grant Stewart will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Tyson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 19, 1950 to the late Alex and Iris Howard Hodges. On September 12, 1982 she married Bernice Earl Tyson who survives. She was employed for many years as a cashier for Piggly Wiggly. Mrs. Tyson was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Bernice Tyson of the home, her son, A.J. Tyson of the home, one step-son, Jason Tyson of New Bern and three grandchildren, Cody Webb, Austin Wade Tyson and Romelo. She was preceded in death by one step-son, Bernice Wade Tyson.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the time of the funeral service at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
