Daniels earns D2Football.com’s All-Independent honors|Former area stars continue to shine

Travis Daniels ran his way into history for the UNC-Pembroke Braves, and into a spot on the D2Football.com’s All-Independent squad.
Daniels, a former star at Washington High School, earned First Team honors.
The sophomore ran for a school-record 1,042 yards and 11 touchdowns on 147 carries (7.1 average). Daniels also had 10 receptions for 97 yards.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
JORDAN CANTRELL
Jordan Cantrell, a former standout player at Washington High School and Terra Ceia, is playing at Randolph-Macon. The freshman had 11 points, three assists and one steal in her team’s 81-72 win over Bridgewater College.
Cantrell is averaging 7.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
HUNTER JOHNSON
Hunter Johnson, a former star at Pungo, is a captain for the Meredith Avenging Angels.
Johnson is averaging 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
SAMANTHA SMITH
Samantha Smith, a former star at Washington High School, is playing at Tallahassee Community College.
Smith is averaging 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
STEPHANIE HOLTON
Stephanie Holton, a former star at Columbia High School, is playing at Shenandoah.
Holton is averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
COR-J COX
Cor-J Cox, a former standout at Washington High School, is playing at Mississippi Valley State.
Cox is averaging 4.2 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
BRADLEY VAN STAALDUINEN
Bradley Van Staalduinen, a former star at Terra Ceia, is playing at Wingate.
Van Staalduinen is averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
DAMIEN WILKINS
Damien Wilkins, a Washington native, is playing with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Wilkins is averaging 4.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.6 steals per game.
OVERSEAS BASKETBALL
ELTON COFFIELD
Elton Coffield, a former standout at Williamston High School, is playing for the BSW Sixers in Germany.
Coffield is averaging 20.2 points per game.
JOSEPH BARBER
Joseph Barber, a former standout at Terra Ceia, is playing for CS Energia Rovinari in Romania.
Barber is averaging 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.9 steals per game.
RALPH BIGGS
Ralph Biggs, a former star at Washington High school, is playing for Krasnie Krilya Samara in Russia.
Biggs is averaging 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game.
TERRANCE COPPER
Terrance Copper, a former standout at Washington High School, is playing with the Kansas City Chiefs. He had one kickoff return for 18, yards, and two special teams tackles in Sunday’s 44-13 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Copper has two catches for 11 yards, 12 special teams tackles and one kickoff return for 18 yards this season.
The Chiefs (3-9) play host to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
