Mrs. Doris Bowen Oden, age 89, a former resident of the Waterford Place, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Britthaven of Washington.
Services will be private.
Mrs. Oden was born in Beaufort County on June 6, 1920. She was the daughter of the late George Robert Bowen and Estelle Allen Bowen. Mrs. Oden graduated from Bath High School in 1937. She worked in the Parts Department at Hamilton Beach, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Oden was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington.
On December 6, 1942, she married James McDonald “Jimmy” Oden, who preceded her in death, September 25, 1982.
Survivors include a son, James M. “Don” Oden, Jr. and his wife, Crystal of Washington; four grandchildren, J.T., Kyle, Caroline and Erin; and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Katelyn.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Oden was preceded in death by a son, Dale Robert Oden and a brother, Ottis Bowen.
