Mrs. Alice Gray Adams Gibbs, age 69, a resident of 266 Hubs Rec Road, Belhaven, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.
Graveside services were held 1:00 pm Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Belhaven Community Cemetery in Belhaven, conducted by Linwood Adams.
The following will serve as honorary pallbearers: Bonner Adams, Ricky Adams, Steven Adams, Ottis Ray Hudnell, Edward Gray Ward, and Fountain Lee Adams.
Mrs. Gibbs was born in Beaufort County on August 8, 1940. She was the daughter of the late James Stafford Adams and Annie Mae Jarvis Adams. Mrs. Gibbs worked for many years as a seamstress at the Belhaven Sewing Factory. Later, she worked as manager of the Washington Gas House. Mrs. Adams was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ.
On October 12, 1970, she married David Harold Gibbs, who preceded her in death, August 14, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, David Todd Gibbs and Derek Shawn Gibbs both of Pinetown; three grandchildren, Nikki, Megan and Kira Gibbs; and a nephew, Steven Adams of Morehead City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Gibbs was preceded in death by five brothers, Linwood, Adams, Stafford Adams, Jr., Durwood Adams, Carlyle Adams and Fountain Adams and three sisters, Sue Carraway, Dorothy Keeter and Ada A. Watson.
