Mrs. Ruth Slade Brinn, age 87, a resident of 732 Hubs Rec Road, Belhaven, NC died Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Autumnfield Rest Home.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Sunday December 27, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Bob Beltz. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Eddie Brooks, Eric Brooks, Wade Thomas, Jr. Rodger Brinn, Jimmy Brinn, B. Brinn, Robbie Slade and Billy Slade will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Brinn was born in Beaufort County on November 11, 1922 daughter of the late Guilford Franklin Slade and the late Maude Rose Slade. She attended Pantego High School and married Burl Edward Brinn, Sr. on May 3, 1943 who preceded her in death on May 3, 1979. Mrs. Brinn was a waitress at the former Belhaven Bakery and a seamstress at Belhaven Manufacturing Co. until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of West Belhaven Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter: Mary Emily Brooks and her husband Howard of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons: Burl E. Brinn, Jr. and his wife Willene of Belhaven and Edward Lee Brinn and his wife Nita of Chesapeake, VA; a sister: Jacquelyn “Jackie” Boyd of New Bern; a brother: Guilford “Ralph” Slade of Washington; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Brinn was preceded in death by a daughter: Shelby Jean Thomas; a son: Lewis Brinn and three brothers: Cecil R. Slade, Robert M. Slade, Sr. and Thomas E. Slade.
The family will receive friends 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Saturday December 26, 2009 at Paul Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mrs. Brinn’s son Burl located at 1066 Hubs Rec Road, Belhaven, NC.
