Mr. Thad Boyd, Jr., age 77, a resident of 2949 Respess Road, Pinetown, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2010 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Pastor Justin Marker officiating. Burial will follow in Latham Cemetery in Pinetown. Adrian Boyd, Billy Braddy, Steven Braddy, Swindell Braddy, Herman Lagcher and Donny Sullivan will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, NC.
Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on July 28, 1932 to Thad and Eva Latham Boyd. He was married to Johanna Van Gysen Boyd who preceded him in death. Thad was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and also farmed. He was known for his devotion to his family.
He is survived by one son, Thad “Buddy: Boyd, III and wife Angela of Mebane, NC; four brothers, Rufus Boyd, Paul Boyd, Dan Boyd and Mark Boyd; three sisters, Mary Whitley, Lucy Sullivan and Marcia Hamilton; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua and Cassidy Boyd.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Annie Myrtle, Callie, Blanche and Lou.
He will be greatly missed.
