Mrs. Agnes Stallings Ennis, age 92, a resident of 71 Pine Drive, Pungo Shores, Belhaven, died Saturday, January 9, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church and will be conducted by pastor David Pierce. Burial will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, Winsteadville, NC. Jeff Johnson, Danny Mills, Stacy Betts, Paul Stewart, Mike Stallings, and Carl Gurley will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Ennis was born in Edgecombe County on January 27, 1917 to the late George Alonso Stallings and Annie Lancaster Stallings. She was a graduate of West Edgecombe High School in Rocky Mount and attended Carolina College of Beauty Knowledge in Raleigh. She was owner and operator of Modern Beauty Shop in Mount Olive and had also been employed with J.C. Penny. On April 8, 1939 she married Rufus Daniel Ennis who preceded her in death on January 24, 1985. She was a member of the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church, Richmond Club, Eastern Star, and was a Lioness.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Ennis Gurley of Princeton, Juanie Ennis Mills and husband Bob of Raleigh; two brothers, Ed Stallings of Rocky Mount, Howard Stallings and wife Barbara of Strang, OK; one sister, Ida Abbott of Tazewell, VA; five grandchildren, Jeff Johnson and wife, Mary, of Raleigh, Angie Betts and husband, Stacy, of Raleigh, Jennifer Wade of Raleigh, Danny Mills and wife, Melissa, of Raleigh, and Meredith Stewart and husband, Paul, of Raleigh and seven great grandchildren, Morgan Betts, Laney Wade, Landon Betts, Reagan Stewart, Raleigh Stewart, Spencer Margaret Johnson and Robby Mills. She was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Hill and two brothers, Alton Stallings and Wilbur Stallings.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven.
