Lady Pirates win again|Raiders, Cougars earn sweeps

The Williamston Tigers earned a 68-53 win over the Manteo Redskins in Monday’s basketball action.
Katie Paschal had 34 points and Zakkeya Morris 13 for the Tigers (11-0)
Williamston returns to action Friday at Southside.
Raiders sweep
The Pungo Raiders made it a clean sweep of Ocracoke on Monday. The varsity boys (6-7) got 36 points from Zach Credle in a 61-54 win. Jenna Sadler’s 18 points paced Pungo (7-11) to a 38-31 varsity girls win.
The junior varsity boys won 50-40 and the junior varsity girls posted a 19-15 victory.
Pungo plays host to Terra Ceia on Jan. 19.
Emmanuel tops Garnett
The Emmanuel Cougars were able to take two games from Garnett in Wilson on Monday.
The girls (6-3, 3-1) notched a 56-22 win. Jessica Rowe had 22 points and 9 steals, Gloria McKeever 11 points and five rebounds, Chris Morris 10 points and five steals and Megan Barr five points and 10 rebounds.
The boys (7-2, 3-1) earned a 64-34 victory. Josh Chandler led the way with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Andrew Barmer added 13 points and 15 caroms. Daniel Brantley added eight points and Hunder Boyd seven.
Demons notch win
The P.S. Jones middle school wrestling team recorded its first win under coach Craig Henshall, taking a 45-41 win over J.W. Parker on Wednesday.
The Demons also participated in a quad match at Terrell Lane Middle School on Saturday and took the championship by defeating Ravens Croft, 46-39, defeating Parker Middle, 43-42, and defeating Terrell Lane 43-42.
The Demons wrestle Chowan today and Red Oak on Thursday.
Lakers win
The Mattamuskeet Lady Lakers (2-2) earned a Tideland Conference win with a 36-22 nod over Columbia on Friday night.
Te Cox lead the Lakers with 18 points.
