Mrs. Lela Campbell Warren, 85, a resident of 233 Waterford Place, Washington, NC died Sunday January 24, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday January 26, 2010 at the First Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Kevin Woolard. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington. Mickey Jones, M.L. Jones, Kori Fredrick, Daniel Moore, Scottie Moore, Aaron Moore, Jeff Dobson and Josh Campbell will serve as pallbearers. Greg Cooper will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Mrs. Warren was born in Pitt County on July 21, 1924 daughter of the late John Albert Campbell and Lela Brinson Campbell. She attended Pitt County Schools. On December 31, 1941, Mrs. Warren married Robert Jesse Warren, who preceded her in death on September 15, 1972. Mrs. Warren had served as Vice President/ Owner of Suburban Sanitation and had been the supervisor of housekeeping during the opening of the Opryland Hotel. Mrs. Warren was a gifted seamstress all of her life. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and was active in all aspects of charitable works through the organization.
Mrs. Warren is survived by her children: Dottie W. Moore and husband Don of Washington, NC Sylvia W. Jones and husband Pee Wee of Chocowinity, NC, Bob Warren and wife Theresa of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Chuck Warren and wife Elaine of Asheville, NC, Ruthie W. Frederick of Greenville, NC. ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Warren is preceded in death by a daughter, Lela Catherine Warren, two sisters; Louise Savage and Julia Baker, one brother; Albert Campbell, and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 26, 2010 from 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m., prior to the service.
