Lady Tigers remain unbeaten|Williamston boys fall just short

WILLIAMSTON Led by Katie Paschals 14 points, the Williamston Lady Tigers raced out to a 21-2 lead over Camden in Tuesdays prep basketball action. The fourth-ranked Lady Tigers were able to cruise from there, coasting to a 73-23 win over the Bruins.
Williamston (15-0, 9-0) remained undefeated with the victory. Paschal, who didnt play in the fourth quarter, led all scorers with 28 points. The senior added five rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Paschal, who will play with the East Carolina Lady Pirates next year, now has 2,654 points in her career.
Zakkeya Morris added 14 points and four assists. Joneka Brown came off the bench and had 11 points and four steals.
In total, 10 different Lady Tigers found the scoring column.
Allison Cuthrell paced Camden (1-13, 0-7) with 9 points.
Paschal had 22 of her points at the half, when the Lady Tigers held a comfortable 41-7 advantage.
Williamston will put its undefeated record on the line again tonight when it steps out of conference to play host to the Edenton Aces. The Lady Tigers are also home Friday when they square off with Perquimans.
BOYS FALL
A strong inside presence by Kiyon Coffield and some long-range shooting by Ramalle Lanier helped Williamston take a 46-41 lead over the Bruins with four minutes to play. However, Camden used a 9-0 run to grab a 49-46 advantage with two minutes left.
A pair of free throws from Coffield knotted the game at 49-apiece with 1:34 remaining, but the Tigers could never reclaim the lead in a 57-55 loss.
It spoiled a solid night by Coffield, who led all scorers with 23 points. Lanier added 16 and KJ. Brown 10 for the Tigers (10-6, 6-3).
Camden (11-6, 5-2) was paced by Shawn Hammonds, who had 16 points. Hunter Crook chipped in with 12 and Matt Nelson tacked on 11 in the win.
It was close throughout as the teams were tied at 15-all after the first quarter and 35-apiece after three quarters.
A big slam by Coffield gave the Tigers a 43-41 lead while Laniers triple made it 46-41.
Camden then went on the 9-0 run to take control. The Bruins went up by four, 53-49, with 24 seconds remaining. The Tigers could never get closer than two the rest of the way.
