Mergers will bring about changes

Beginning next year, the Williamston Tigers, Jamesville Bullets, Roanoke Redskins and Bear Grass Bears will no longer exist.
The schools will merge for the 2010-11 school year.
Williamston and Jamesville high schools will become Riverside High School. The school’s mascot will be the Knights.
The colors of the Riverside Knights will be navy blue and silver.
Williamston High School will be the facility for Riverside High School.
Roanoke and Bear high schools will become South Creek High School. The school’s mascot will be the Cougars.
The colors of the South Creek Cougars will be purple, black and silver.
Roanoke High School will be the facility for South Creek High School.
The Martin County school board voted in 2008 to consolidate the four high schools because of financial reasons.
Changes to color schemes will happen this summer.
