Mrs. Lela Pollard Norris, age 82, a native of Greenville, NC and a resident of Blounts Creek, NC died Monday February 15, 2010.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday February 18, 2010 at the Warren Memorial Cemetery in Blounts Creek officiated by Rev. Jerry Smith.
Mrs. Norris was born in Pitt County on August 17, 1927 daughter of the late Herman Pollard and the late Geneva Toler Pollard. She married William Earl Norris who survives. Mrs. Norris was a homemaker who had worked with National Spinning Company in Washington.
Surviving along with her husband William of the home are two sons: Carlton Thompson and his wife Deborah of Mobile, AL and Gary Thompson of Houston, TX; two step-sons: Fenner Earl Norris and his wife Cynthia of New Bern, NC and Stanley Norris and his wife Judie of Vanceboro, NC; a sister: Marie Long of Blounts Creek; eight grandchildren: Ashley Case of Mobile, AL, Allison Burnett and her husband Trey of Mobile, AL, Nikki Hall and her husband Josh of Houston, TX, Tara Teague and her husband Jason of Reston, VA, Stacey Griffin and her husband Harold of Vanceboro, Chris Norris of Morehead City, NC, Rusty Norris and his wife Christie of Hope Mills, NC and Alison Norris of New Bern; ten great grandchildren: Lily Case and Sarah Burnett both of Mobile, AL, Nathaniel Thompson and Jaden Hall both of Houston, TX, Jocelyn Teaque and Dashiel Teague both of Reston, VA , Britney Norris and Lindsey Norris both of Hope Mills, NC, Tyler Griffin of Vanceboro and Kyle Norris of MO and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday February 17, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
