Prep basketball state playoffs tip off on Monday|Thirteen area teams qualify

The Washington Lady Pam Pack qualified for the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A state playoffs for the third consecutive season.
Washington (10-14), the fourth seed out of the Coastal Conference, will play at West Brunswick (13-7) in Mondays opening-round game at 6 p.m. The Trojans are the top seed in the Waccamaw Conference. The winner takes on either Rocky Mount (16-5), the Big East Conference champions, or West Carteret (18-7), the third seed from the Coastal Conference, in Wednesdays second-round game.
1-A GIRLS
Six area girls teams qualified for the 1-A state playoffs. Williamston and Creswell will be at home, while Southside, Plymouth, Mattamuskeet and Jamesville will be on the road.
The top-ranked, undefeated Williamston Tigers (24-0), the Four Rivers Conference champions, play host to Gates County, the No. 3 seed from the Tar Roanoke Conference. The winner faces either Tideland Conference No. 2 seed Creswell (10-9) or Four Rivers No. 4 seed Perquimans (16-9).
The 10th-ranked Southside Lady Seahawks (19-5), the third seed in the Four Rivers Conference, play at Coastal Plains No. 2 seed Jones County (13-9). The survivor faces either Jamesville (10-10), the No. 4 seed from the Tideland Conference, or Tar Roanoke champion Northampton-East (15-4).
The Plymouth Vikings (8-10), the No. 5 seed from the Four Rivers, play at Coastal Plains champion SW Onslow (14-4). The winner takes on either Mattamuskeet (9-13), the Tideland No. 3 seed, or Tar Roanoke No. 2 seed North Edgecombe (14-6).
All games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
1-A BOYS
Six area boys teams qualified for the playoffs, with half of them playing at home in Mondays opening round. Columbia, Mattamuskeet and Plymouth will all play at home, while Williamston, Northside and Creswell will be on the road.
The Columbia Wildcats (16-4), the second seed out of the Tideland Conference, plays host to the Williamston Tigers (14-11), the fourth seed from the Four Rivers Conference. The winner of that game will face either Four Rivers regular-season champion Perquimans (15-10) or Tar Roanoke No. 3 seed Gates County (10-11).
The Mattamuskeet Lakers (17-6), the Tideland Conference champions, play host to SE Halifax (10-14), the fourth seed in the Tar Roanoke Conference. The winner faces either the Plymouth Vikings (14-9), the No. 2 seed and conference tournament champions out of the Four Rivers Conference, or Lejeune (19-5), the No. 3 seed from the Coastal Plains Conference.
The Northside Panthers (11-13), the fifth seed from the Four Rivers, will hit the road to take on SW Onslow (14-2), the Coastal Plains Conference champions. That survivor takes on either the Tideland No. 3 seed Creswell Tigers (12-12) or the Tar Roanoke No. 2 seed North Edgecombe Warriors (16-5).
