Trent Whitehead, who set a single-season hit record for the East Carolina Pirates last year, is off to another hot start.
Whitehead is a former star at Washington High School.
The junior leadoff batter is hitting .346 with five RBIs. Whitehead has two doubles among his nine hits.
STYRON BARFIELD
Styron Barfield, a former standout at Williamston High School, is playing at Elizabeth City State University.
Barfield is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA this year. He has fanned three and walked two in seven innings.
BRANDON THOMAS
Brandon Thomas, a former standout at Washington High School, is playing with the College of Albemarle Dolphins.
Thomas is a pitcher for the Dolphins.
SWIMMING
ANNA PFEIFFER
Anna Pfeiffer, a four-year MVP of the Washington Pam Pack swim team, is a member of the South Carolina Gamecocks swim club.
The freshman specializes in the breaststroke and intermediate. She competed in the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay in a recent meet.
Her best times are 54.11 seconds in the 100 free, 1:08.57 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:28.35 in the 200 breaststroke.

CHARITY WATSON
Charity Watson, a former star at Washington High School, is playing with the Pitt Community College Bulldogs.
The freshman pitcher is 4-5 with a 0.82 ERA this season. Watson has fanned 97 and walked 34 in 12 games. She has allowed just 11 hits in 60 innings of work.

Tiffany Frey, a former standout at Jamesville High School, is playing with the Pitt Community College Bulldogs.
Frey is hitting .100 (2 for 20). She has scored three times and has one RBI.
NICOLE JORDAN
Nicole Jordan, a former star at Jamesville High School, is playing with the East Carolina Lady Pirates.
Jordan is hitting .167 this season. The senior picked up her first hit with the Pirates in 15-1 win over Delaware. In a pinch hitting role, Jordan spanked a single up the middle to lead off the fifth inning.

Meredith Knox, a former standout at Washington High School, is playing with the Anderson Trojans.
Knox is hitting .355 with four home runs and 15 RBIs. The senior has two doubles and one triple among her 11 hits. Knox has scored 15 runs and stolen two bases.

The freshman is 0 for 1 with two runs scored this season. She has one stolen base and four putouts.

Angelo Sharpless had a memorable first season with the Elizabeth City State University Vikings.
Sharpless, a former star at Plymouth High School, was unanimously voted as the 2010 CIAA Rookie of the Year. He finished as the Vikings’ top scorer, averaging 13.2 points per game. Sharpless also averaged 6.7 rebounds, 1.1 steals 0.8 blocks and 0.7 assists per game.
