Mr. Albert Ham Wilson Lilley, age 91, a resident
of 1881 James Wiggins Road, Williamston died Friday,
March 5, 2010 in Rocky Mount, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday,
March 7, 2010 at Macedonia Christian Church with
Rev. Dolan Baker and Rev. Gregg Sexton officiating.
Charles Edwards, Joe Johnson, Rick Perry, Simon
Perry, Frankie Revels and Ronnie Revels will serve as
pallbearers. Jesse Gray Lilley, Joseph Lilley, William
Lilley, Jerry Ward and Jack Wynne will serve as honorary
pallbearers. A Committal Service will be held at
12 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Rosewood Memorial
Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach City,
VA with Pastor Randy Childress officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday,
March 6, 2010 at Macedonia Christian Church, 7640
US17, Williamston, NC.
Mr. Lilley was born in Martin County on August 28,
1918 to Miles and Virginia Gurkin Lilley. Albert was
a retired general contractor and was part-owner of
Waterfront Lumber Co. in Newport News, VA. He loved
the outdoors, especially fishing, crabbing and hunting.
Albert loved Macedonia Christian Church where he
was a member. He had been an elder at Kempsville
Church of Christ in Virginia Beach, VA. Albert was
married for 43 years to Margaret Edwards Lilley who
preceded him in death and later married Mildred Lilley
who also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Albert W. Lilley, Jr. and
wife Jo of Lenexa, VA, his daughter, Diana Lilley Brock
of Raleigh, NC, his step-son, Tony Lilley of Monroe, NC,
his sister, Josie Lilley of Raleigh, NC, his grandchildren,
Tripp Lilley and Haley Elizabeth Brock and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Callie
Irene Lilley and sisters Verona Paris, Della Ward and
Daisy Perry.
