PACTOLUS – Donald Big Don Richard Davenport, 47, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, March 12, 2010.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Homestead Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Davenport, a native of Beaufort County, was a graduate of Washington High School, and had lived many years in Greenville. He was the owner and operator of Holiday Shell, and a tech director at East Carolina Motor Speedway. A race car fanatic, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie R. Davenport, Jr., and brother, Timothy W. Davenport.
He is survived by his: wife of 20 years, Debbie Eakes Davenport; daughter, April Manning Violette, of Grimesland; sons, Jonathan M. Davenport, of Washington, and Jeremy R. Davenport, of the home; grandchildren, Krystin J. Violette, and Jaylyn M. Violette, and a baby boy on the way; mother, Martha A . Davenport, of Bath; sisters, Susan Freeman, of Bath, Patricia Bright, of Washington, Nancy Brickhouse, of Bath, and Carol Willoughby, of Washington; and brothers, Michael Davenport, Russell Davenport, both of Washington; and Brad Davenport, of Bath.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
