Mr. Garland Frank Edwards, age 62, a resident of 2053 South Grimesland Bridge Road, Grimesland, died Sunday March 28, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Heritage Farm Cemetery, near Mr. Edwards’ home, conducted by Pastor Kenneth Pritchard. Garland Edwards, Jr., Tessie Brooks, Bud Brooks, Derek Brooks, Mike Jackson and Billy Coltrain will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Edwards was born in Beaufort County on November 13, 1947. He was the son of the late Frank Edwards, Jr. and Ruby Dell Whitley Evett Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a retired welder/fabricator with Coastal Manufacturing. He loved to hunt and was a member of the Old Cove Hunting Club.
On July 2, 1983, Mr. Edwards married the former Toni Mills, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are a son Garland Edwards, Jr. and his fiancée, Ashley Asby of Grimesland; two daughters, Tessie Edwards Brooks and husband, Floyd “Bud” Brooks, Jr. of Washington, Monica Bradshaw and husband, Brad Bradshaw of Bethel; six grandchildren, Kyndall Edwards, Cheyanne Edwards, Derek Brooks, Morgan Brooks, Tyler Bradshaw, Jordan Bradshaw; one brother, Keith Edwards; and three sisters, Carolyn Brice, Sheena Riggs, and Melinda Murdock.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne E. Warren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at the home, 2053 South Grimesland Bridge Road, Grimesland.
