Wilkins will be honored at special dinner|Talent showcase will be held

If you look like a celebrity, or can perform like on, now is your chance to show it off.
Contestants have the chance to perform at a dinner party of NBA star and Washington native, Damien Wilkins. The dinner party will be held June 19.
There is also a chance to win $100.
If you look like or can imitate such celebrities as Beyonce, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, Hannah Montana, Usher, Chris Brown, Omarion, Waka Flaka or T-pain, have mad skills with a basketball or a certain talent, now is your chance to “bring it on” and show it off.
Auditions will be held Saturday, May 1 and Saturday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys &Girls Club, located on Bridge Street in Washington.
Wilkins, who just wrapped up his sixth season in the NBA, and first with the Minnesota Timberwolves, will be honored for continually giving back to the community.
The Washington native has been holding his annual “Fun Day” for the past five years.
His sixth will be this summer.
Wilkins has also held free basketball camps in past years, given free tickets to students in Beaufort County to attend basketball games at the Bobcats Arena in Charlotte and helped the Boys &Girls Club purchase and install air conditioning and heating units.
“Damien is a positive role model for our youth today,” said Anne Latham, the event coordinator. “This year we would like to show our love, support and gratitude to Damien by honoring him with an appreciation dinner.
“It’s just a small way to say thanks and to show our love and appreciation for all that he has done.”
The dinner party on June 19 will begin at 5 p.m. at the Family Life Center, located at 810 Hackney Ave. in Washington.
Food will be catered by Abrams Restaurant.
Live entertainment involving a step team, mime dance, soloists, gospel rapper and more will be held throughout the evening.
Tickets for those 16 years and older are $15. Tickets for those 5-15 are $9. Children 4 and under eat free.
