After an extended illness, Catherine Hamilton Pruitt died at Beaufort County Medical Center on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the age of 82.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., also at the church. Services will be conducted by Jim Reid.
Mrs. Pruitt was born on September 9, 1927 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. She was the only child of William Asa and Julia Roaslie Hamilton. She attended Bath High School and lived in the Woodard’s Pond Community after retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Willie “Bill” Pruitt of the home and three daughters, Sharon A. Padgett and husband Allen and Sondra A. Cooke, both of Washington, and Cathy A. Slade and husband Mike of Bath. She is survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons; Kenneth Alligood and David W. Alligood.
She was a member of Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Pallbearers will be Michael Cooke, Darrell Cooke, Sarge Woolard, Michael Slade, Gerrit Slade and Kenny Alligood.
