Mrs. Barbara Ann Woolard Hodge died on May 14, 2010 in Wilmington, DE.
Barbara Ann was born in Washington, NC on November 11, 1932, daughter of the late Edgar Smith Woolard and the late Mamie Boone Woolard. She was a member of the Washington High School Band and Ladies Championship Basketball Team where she graduated with honors. She graduated from W.C. U.N.C-Greensboro, NC and taught math in Raleigh, NC and Washington, NC. Later she attended Penn State in State College, PA where she got her master's. That's where she met and married Hugh A. Hodge. They both taught and retired in Pennsylvania where they operated a farm, employing many students that they enjoyed at the time as well as later. Barbara Ann was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was loved by everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her husband: Hugh; a brother: Edgar Smith Woolard, Jr., his wife Peggy and their family. Barbara Ann was preceded in death by a sister: Mamie Sue, in infancy. She was blessed to have the love and care of her companion Kimberly Foskey of Wilmington, DE.
Due to her husband's health, the memorial service will be in Pennsylvania at a later date.
