Mrs. Lola Lee Bennett Wright, age 90, a resident of 970 Latham St., Belhaven, died Saturday June 12, 2010.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday June 16, 2010 at the First Christian Church of Belhaven and will be conducted by Rev. Roland Jones. Larry Grimes, Ricky Radcliffe, Laura Ann Baker, Harold Smith, Doug Bright and Jimmy Younce will serve as pallbearers. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Wright Family Cemetery, 541 N. Sandy Hook Rd., Shawboro, NC 27973.
Mrs. Wright was born in Beaufort County on February 8, 1920 daughter of the late Guy S. Bennett, Sr. and Sally Mallison Bennett. She was a graduate of Washington High School and Tayloe Hospital Nursing School. Mrs. Wright was a Registered Nurse having worked at Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. On August 8, 1944 she married Dr. J.T. Wright, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 12, 2009. Mrs. Wright was a member of the First Christian Church of Belhaven, Half &Half Bridge Club and the Matcha Pungo Garden Club.
Survivors include one daughter: Janet Wright Grimes and husband Dr. Larry R. Grimes of Raleigh, one son James T. Wright, Jr. of Shawboro, NC, a sister; Mildred Tetterton of Washington, four granddaughters: Lydia Trollo and Rebecca Trollo both of Raleigh, Naomi L. Wright of Leland and Jessica L. Wright of Greenville, one grandson: Hartley R. Grimes of Memphis, TN and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wright is preceded in death by a brother; Guy Smith Bennett, Jr., and two sisters; Lena Belle Cox and Veva Fleming.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday June 16, 2010 at the First Christian Church of Belhaven and other times at the home.
