Mrs. Virginia Dare Williams Dixon, 91, of Plymouth died Friday, August 6, 2010 at her residence in Plymouth.
Born January 10, 1919 in Washington County she was the daughter of the late Charles P. Williams and Myrtle Darden Williams and was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Dixon; daughter, Carolyn D. Lewis; brothers, Hardie Williams, David Williams; son-in-law, Irving Davis. Virginia was a graduate of Plymouth High School and in November 1932 was baptized during a revival at First Christian Church, and became a member of Plymouth Church of Christ in 1978. She was past president and member of the Myrtle Williams Ladies Circle, charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 281. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a homemaker.
Her family includes her daughter, Mary D. Davis of Plymouth, N.C.; sister, Evelyn W. Ebbets of Morehead City, N.C.; grandchildren, Pam D. Thompson, Jackie L. Tyrrell, Susan D. Gardner, Jack “Bo” Lewis, Jr.; great grandchildren, Kristin Barnhill, Keith Thompson, Kimberly Tyrrell and Carly Lewis.
Funeral service will be held Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:00 am at Plymouth Church of Christ with Bob Moulden officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Plymouth Church of Christ Family Life Center and other times at the residence.
