Mr. Edward Elsworth Asby, age 93, a resident of 61 Camp Leach Rd. Washington, died Friday, October 1, 2010.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Monday, October 4, 2010 at Asbury United Methodist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Lee Hendricks. Gene Asby, Dicky Asby, Danny Asby, Donald Smith, Bucky Asby and Reginald Asby will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Asby was born in Beaufort County on January 16, 1917 to the late James and Bertha Woolard Asby. He was employed as an automotive and a heavy equipment mechanic in Washington State, Oregon, North Dakota and California where he retired in 1975. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Redmen Lodge and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline Carrow and husband J.W. of Washington; one son, Clinton Asby of Washington; one step-son, Earl Shavender and wife Autry of Bath; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty seven years, Cora Shavender Asby; three brothers and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
