Jackie Perry Nixon, age 63, a resident of 34597 U.S. Highway 264 East, Belhaven, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven officiated by Pastor David Pierce. Burial will follow in Yeatesville Cemetery, Pinetown, N.C.
Mr. Nixon was born on Feb. 26, 1947, son of the late George Mack Nixon and the late Rotha Smith Nixon. He attended John A. Wilkinson High School and married the former Margaret Ann Tyer on July 2, 1967 who survives. He is a retired tugboat captain with Dann Marine Towing and is a member of Belhaven Missionary Church.
Surviving along with Mr. Nixon’s wife, Margaret, of the home, are two daughters; Tammy Nixon Paul and her husband, Jay, of Bath, Pamela Nixon Riley and her husband, Chuck, of Rising Sun, Md., his son: Jason Perry Nixon of the home; his brother: Gerald Nixon and his wife, Mary Lou Nixon, of Belhaven, five grandchildren: Kayla, Mallory and Tyler Paul, Austin and Marina Riley. Mr. Nixon is preceded in death by two sisters: Doris Tankard and Evelyn Sawyer and five brothers: Earl, Leon, Mirl, Gene and James Nixon.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday at Paul Funeral in Belhaven and other times at the home.
