The Washington Daily News has set Sunday, May 29, as the publication date for Progress 2011, its inaugural special edition on living in and the infrastructure of Beaufort County. The special edition was originally scheduled to publish Feb. 20.
This special section will feature comprehensive stories on various aspects of Beaufort County, interviews with people of authority and people “in the know.”
Washington Mayor Archie Jennings, Beaufort County Manager Paul Spruill, schools Superintendent Don Phipps, tourism director Lynn Lewis, Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Catherine Glover, Turnage Theater director Scotty Henley and Washington Harbor District Alliance director Beth Byrd are just a few who will provide in-depth insight into the future of the region.
“We feel publishing in May will allow us to run more stories about positive developments in Beaufort County, reflecting input we’ve received from many sources,” said Publisher Ray McKeithan.
“The content of Progress 2011 is more than what you would find on our daily pages,” Managing Editor Christ Prokos said. “We hope to provide the reader with an outlook of the county, how we got here and where we are headed.”
Advertisers wishing to participate have until the May 9 deadline to take advantage of this highly visible promotional opportunity.
“Moving tahe publication date will also give us an opportunity to reach more businesses and industry for advertising opportunities that we would not have had time to see, otherwise,” McKeithan said. “It is important that we devote appropriate time and resources to producing the best edition possible, benefiting readers, advertisers and the community overall.”
Co-sponsored by the Washington Daily News and the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce, Progress 2011 will be inserted into the WDN and extra copies will be distributed all year through the chamber and other locations.
