William “Pete” Travis Morris

Mr. William “Pete” Travis Morris, age 58, a resident of 5154 Old Pactolus Road, Greenville, N.C., and most recently of Washington, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Alligood Church of God located at 1891 Mill Hole Road in Washington. The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour at the church and other times at the home of his sister, Joan Padgett, 821 E. 7th St., Washington.
Pete was born the son of the late Alton Roland Morris and Olivia Charlotte Morris on April, 21, 1952, in Washington. He graduated from Washington High School in 1971. Pete was a member of the Washington Moose Lodge # 1800. He worked for Barrus Construction Company, a subsidiary of Ashland Oil Company, Inc., as Chief Estimator for 30 years.
Mr. Morris is survived by his two sons, Joshua Nicholas Morris and Preston Alexander Morris, both of Washington; four sisters, Dorothy Smith of Washington; Joyce Lawrence of Elkin, N.C.; Joan Padgett and husband, Louis, of Washington; Patricia Woolard of Washington; granddaughter, Sarah Danielle Colman; Stacy D. Morris, the mother of his children of Washington; 38 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Morris, two sisters, Sharon Stone and Betty Lou Sissom, four brothers-in-law, Winfred Lawrence, Mitchell L. Woolard, J.C. Smith and Pete Winstead, Sr.
