Mrs. Bonnie Woolard Boyd, age 92, of 8649 Hwy 264 East, Washington, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ, 8962 Hwy 264 East, Washington, conducted by Dennis R. Davis. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to honor her from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church fellowship hall prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Douglas Boyd, Todd Boyd and Brandon Boyd; her great grandsons: Justin Boyd, Garrett Boyd, Dawson Boyd, Sean Winborne and Jim Woolard.

Mrs. Boyd was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Beaufort County. She was the daughter of the late William Charles Woolard and Calvenia Cox Woolard. On Oct. 17, 1936, she married Carmer P. Boyd. They celebrated 66 years together before his death in 2002. Mrs. Boyd was a lifelong resident of Beaufort County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Woodard’s Pond Church of Christ.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life two daughters: Sylvia B. Timmons and husband, Dr. Robert Timmons of Bald Head Island; Phyllis B. Boyd and husband, James R. Boyd of Washington, and one son, C. Phillip Boyd and Valerie Boyd of Washington; four grandchildren, Douglas L. Boyd and wife, Tammy Boyd; James Todd Boyd and wife, Amanda Boyd; Lori W. Winborne and husband, Jimmy Winborne and Brandon Boyd and wife, Katie Boyd; nine great grandchildren, Justin Boyd, Garrett Boyd, Sarabeth Boyd, Meredith Boyd, Dawson Boyd, Anneleise Waters, Cameron Waters, Sean Winborne and Kristin Winborne, sisters Daisy W. Woolard and Millie W. Alligood.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by five sisters, Lillian W. Davenport, Willie Mae Woolard, Audrey W. Daniels, Margie W. Keel, Inda W. Waters and a brother, Hilliard Woolard.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ken Waters, Jr.

She is survived by a special niece, Patsy Harris and her very dear friend, Trudy Gurganus.  Special thanks to caregiver Melanie Toler and all the caring ladies at Community Hospice especially her nurse, Phileta Holland.
