Milton T. Alligood

Milton Taylor Alligood, 71, went to be with his Lord on Valentine’s Day 02/14/11 at Brian Center after an extended illness. His wife of 50 years, Delores Russ Alligood, was by his side.

Milton was a creative visionary and truly left his mark wherever he went. He repeatedly took “lemons and made lemonade.” He was very generous and always helping others. He had an unforgettable personality and infectious laugh.

He was born in Washington, NC to the late Eva Dean Sullivan and Lyman Alligood. His siblings include Mary Virginia Lewis, Kelly Alligood, and Jessie Alligood who preceded him in death. He is survived by Jessie’s daughter, Tonya Avery, and her family who reside in Ayden, NC.

Milton was a proud graduate of Bath High School. Milton continued his education at various community colleges, always eager to educate himself about something new. He worked for decades for Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Newport News VA and also Burroughs Wellcome, Greenville NC. At both employers, Milton was always willing and able to learn from others to better educate him and better the company. After becoming disabled, he lived in Myrtle Beach SC, Statesville, NC and Mooresville, NC.

A private memorial service was conducted in Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Martin Jensen of Glory Chapel, Mooresville, NC.
