It’s last call for purchases of ‘little art’

Time is running out for patrons who wish to purchase art that will be available for sale during the Beaufort County Arts Council’s Little Art Exhibit.
The exhibit runs Tuesday through Thursday at the Washington Civic Center.
The event closes with a reception from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
A few works still were available for sale as of Thursday, but the artwork was selling out fast, according to Joey Toler, executive director of the arts council.
“Last year, with just under 200 works for sale, we could have sold 40 more canvases than were available,” Toler said in a news release. “This year, we reached out to more artists and hope to have even more pieces for sale. And I’m so impressed with some of the work we’ve received.”
“Little” art canvases cost $30 apiece, or $100 for four pieces.
The concept behind the sale of these 8-by-10-inch canvases, which are smaller and less expensive than many other works in galleries, is to promote purchases of locally made art, organizers have said.
