EL PASO, Texas ą East Carolina junior Darrius Morrow was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament team Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of 2011 men’s basketball championship at UTEP’s Don Haskins Arena.

It’s the first time ECU has had a player make the league’s all-tournament team. It is the first time since 1993 CAA championship run – and only the ninth-time overall – that East Carolina has put a player on a conference all-tournament team. Ike Copeland and Lester Lyons were the last players to garner all-conference tournament honors in leading ECU to its lone CAA title. Morrow averaged a team-best 21.7 points and 13.3 rebounds in the three tournaments games, posting three consecutive double-doubles.

Morrow grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against both UAB and Memphis. He poured in 25 points in the semifinal loss to Memphis after scoring 22 in the quarterfinal victory over UAB. Morrow opened the tournament with 18 points and 12 rebounds against UCF. The Atlanta native shot 50.0 percent from the floor (19-of-38) and made 27-of-33 attempts at the free throw line (.818) during the Pirates’ run to the semifinals.

Morrow sank 12-of-16 free throws against UAB and 11-of-13 versus Memphis. Championship MVP Joe Jackson of Memphis, Tulsa’s Justin Hurtt and UTEP’s Randy Culpepper and Christian Polk joined Morrow on the all-tournament team.
