Moore- Horton – Wedding

Lauren Griffin Moore and Lenwood Chad Horton were united in marriage at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at First Church of Christ in Washington, N.C.
The bride is the daughter of Larry and Shelia Moore of Washington. She is the granddaughter of Shelton and Frances Moore of Washington, and the late Marilyn Moore, Archie Griffin and Mildred Griffin. The bridegroom is the son of Lenwood and Sharon Horton of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Peggy Blanton of Goldsboro and the late James Blanton, W.B. Horton and Pauline Horton.
The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Mark Lilley and assisted by Doug Radford.
The sanctuary was decorated with pedestals draped with black satin and topped with potted white mums. A table containing the vases for the sand ceremony was situated between the pedestals. The windows contained hurricane vases with ivory candles and greenery. An arrangement on the table in the foyer was in memory of loved ones. Guests enjoyed southern gospel music from Redeemed Quartet, His Hands Quartet and Meredith Mobley as they were being seated. Jonathan Hudson and Carl Smith, Jr. provided ceremony music.
The bride, escorted by her father, wore an ivory satin fitted bodice with a champagne cuff neckline and lace-up back with a full “pick up” skirt and sweep train. She wore a shoulder length blusher veil. Her bouquet was made of orange calla lilies, ivory roses and astrameriams.
Jamie Lyn Smith, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a short black satin dress with a “Y” neck detail with a pleated skirt and ruched waist. Lacey Jane Batts of Williamson, Ashley Marie Gladson of Nashville, Tenn., Jamie Lyn Lilley of Morehead City, Caroline Hamilton McRoy of Chocowinity, and Laura Elizabeth Jennette and Crystal Waters Woolard, both of Washington served as bridesmaids. Their dresses were short, black satin with a strapless neckline and ruched waist. Mary-Morgan Elizabeth Beeman of Washington served as flower girl. She wore an ivory satin spaghetti strap dress with a “pick up” skirt and champagne sash. All honor attendants carried bouquets similar to the bride.
The mother of the bride wore a light mocha sleeveless tank dress with a three-quarter-sleeve beaded mandarin collar bolero. The mother of the groom wore a champagne sleeveless dress with matching jacket. The bride and groom honored both mothers at the end of the ceremony with flowers. All guests were ushered out of the church by the bride and groom.
Lenwood Aaron Horton, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were James Robert “Robbie” Blanton, cousin of the groom of Princeton, Douglas Lester Branch of Winterville, Michael Carroll Horton, brother of the groom of Hertford, Aaron Neal Kornegay of Goldsboro, Christopher Eugene Bryson of Seven Springs and Daniel Lee Smith of Blounts Creek. Colston Jay Lyons and Caeden Jon Lyons, both of Washington, served as ring bearers. The groomsmen, father of the bride and ring bearers wore black tuxedos with an ivory shirt, black vest and tie. Their boutonniere was an orange calla lily with yellow astrameriams. The groom wore a black tuxedo, ivory shirt, champagne vest and tie with an orange calla lily and yellow astrameriams.
Jordan Leigh Woolard of Washington served as the register attendant. Nicole Radford and Lauren Vann Radford, both of Wilson, served as program attendants. Ronda Bass Lyons of Washington served as mistress of ceremony.
A reception followed the ceremony in the Family Life Center of the church. Tables were covered with ivory cloths, black satin runners and each table had a vase with a beta fish. Mums and ferns adorned the family life center. The five-tier square wedding cake was ivory with a champagne swirl design. The couple’s initials were featured on one layer in black icing. The cake was topped with fresh cut orange and ivory roses and pictures of the bride and groom. Gary and Dawn Hamilton, Wayne and Cathy Craig, Jimmy, Jennifer and Ragan Harris and Jeremy, Pam and Anna Shadle, all of Washington, greeted guests as they entered the reception. As guests were leaving, they were wished well by Granville and Anna Lilley and Steve and Pam Griffin, all of Washington.
Several parties were held to honor the couple. An engagement party was held on June 12 at the river home of Steve and Pam Griffin, hosted by family of the bride. Crystal Woolard hosted a recipe shower on June 27 at Asbury United Methodist Church. A floating bridal shower was held August 21 at First Church of Christ in Washington, hosted by friends of the bride. A floating bridal shower was held September 11 at Spring Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, hosted by the groom’s family. The bride’s co-workers from Hackney hosted a bridal shower at Frank’s Pizza on September 21. Chris and Melanie Bryson hosted a shower at their home in Seven Springs, N.C. on September 25. A bridesmaids’ dinner and lingerie shower was held October 14, hosted by Ronda Lyons, Missy Parker and Roxanne Beeman. An after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s family in the First Church of Christ Family Life Center.
The bride is a graduate of Beaufort County Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration and is employed by VT Hackney as the Human Resources Coordinator. The groom is a graduate of Wayne County Community College and is the manager of Kemp Recyclers in Chocowinity.
After a honeymoon to Ocracoke, the couple is making their home in Blounts Creek.
