Roy Roush Taylor

Mr. Roy R. Taylor, 79, a resident of Glovers Lane, Washington, N.C., died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at First United Methodist Church with Danny Allen officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service and at other times at the home on Glover’s Lane, Washington.

Mr. Taylor was born on Jan. 31, 1932, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late William Samuel Taylor and Esther Grace Roush Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Mr. Taylor retired from Westing House Aeronautics Division in 1994. On Sept. 6, 1952, he married the former Roberta Ann Rider, who survives. Mr. Taylor was a member of First United Methodist Church, Orr Lodge #104, and Caring Christian Carpenters. He was a gift from God as a husband and father.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Connie Elizabeth Taylor of Baltimore, Md.; three sons, Roy Roush Taylor, Jr., of White Marsh, Md., William Rider Taylor, his wife Karen and their children, Sarah Amanda Taylor and William Samuel Ellsworth Taylor of Spokane, Wash., and John Eyster Taylor, wife Denise Glover, and children, Olivia Erin Taylor and Matthew Jeffrey Taylor of Washington, N.C.; and one sister, M. Jeanne Taylor of Towson, Md. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Ross Taylor.
