Mrs. Thelma Boyd Allen, 71, a resident of 9449 N.C. Highway 99 North, Pantego, N.C., died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Union Grove Church of Christ officiated by Scott Askew and Bob Moulden. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Charles Allen, Roland Bell, Ricky Boyd, Billy Allen, Phil Newberry and Vernon Bell will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Allen was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 11, 1939, daughter of the late Hallas Hunter Boyd, Sr. and the late Mary Benton Wallace Boyd. She was a 1958 graduate of Pantego High School and married Jesse Norman Allen on Aug. 16, 1958, who survives. Mrs. Allen was a former member of the Black Land Searchers Home Extension Club of Washington County and Pungo River Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of Acre Chapel Christian Church and attended Union Grove Church of Christ.
Surviving along with Mrs. Allen’s husband Norman Allen, Sr. of the home is a daughter: Shelia Allen Holliday and her husband Randy of Jamesville; a son: Jesse N. Allen, Jr. of Greenville; a brother: Hallas H. Boyd, Jr. and his wife Linda of Belhaven and a grandson: Justin T. Allen of Pantego. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a sister: Jeanette B. O’Neal.
The family will receive friends at the home.
