Richard E. Woolard Sr.

Mr. Richard Earl Woolard Sr., age 77, a resident of 220 Brickyard Ave. in the Mill Hole Community Road community, passed away peacefully at his home, March 28, 2011.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Mike Caton. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Timothy B. Sawyer, R. Bryan Sawyer, R. Michael Woolard, Harold Owens Alligood, Eddie Gurganus and Rodney Woolard will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Jan. 19, 1934, son of the late William Ferd Woolard and Elsie Alligood Woolard. On Oct. 20, 1956, he married Janice Marie Woolard who preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2002. He farmed for several years and later worked as a mechanic for Moss Planning Mill and Ford Tractor. He was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Wendy Woolard Godwin of Washington; one son, Richard Earl Woolard, Jr. “Ricky” and wife Susan; four grandsons, Timothy B. Sawyer and wife Jamie, R. Bryan Sawyer and wife Heather, R. Michael Woolard all of Washington, Clay Tripp of Greenville; one granddaughter, Shannon Skinner and husband Andrew of Greenville; three great grandsons, Hunter G., Gavin C. and Ashton C. Sawyer and three great granddaughters, Lilly K. and Saylor L. Sawyer and Ella Grace Skinner.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, March, 30, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of his son, Ricky and Susan Woolard, 114 Brickyard Ave., Washington, N.C.
