Roughton sought in larceny case

On Nov. 1, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny that occurred on Pollard Road in Chocowinity. The report indicated scrap steel was stolen.
During an investigation, deputies discovered the stolen steel was sold at a recycling business located in Vanceboro.
As a result of that investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore obtained warrants charging Matthew Roughton, 19, of Pollard Road, Chocowinity, with one count of obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of misdemeanor larceny.
Roughton is being sought by authorities. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Roughton should call Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Callers do not have to give their names to receive rewards.
