Mary Louise Martin

Mary Louise Martin, 85, of Charlotte, N.C., a former long-time resident of Washington, N.C., died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Liberty Nursing Home in Charlotte.
Mrs. Martin was born in Lancaster, Penn., on Sept. 4, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Aniee Keplinger Cruse of Baltimore, Md. She and William W. Moore, Sr. of Washington were married in Oct. 1944, in Kew Gardens, Long Island, N.Y. In 1947, they moved to Washington, N.C., which became her home for the next 55 years until she moved to Charlotte in 2003 to live with her daughter. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and worked as a statistician at National Spinning Company for some 20 years. She loved to garden and had many beautiful plants and flowers. She was devoted to the care and welfare of animals and, over the years, she adopted and cared for many sick or stray pets. Survivors include her son, William W. Moore, Jr. of Panama City, Fla., and her daughter, Meredith McDonagh of Charlotte, N.C.; a grandson, William W. Moore, III of Tampa, Fla., granddaughter, Kathleen Cruse McDonagh of Asheville, N.C., and great-grandson, Jack. Memorial contributions may be made to a Humane Society or the American Red Cross.
