Annie Elks Campbell

Mrs. Annie Moore Elks Campbell, 76, a resident of 845 N.C. Highway 33 West, Chocowinity, N.C., died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at her home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church of Chocowinity officiated by the Reverend Sonny Browne. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery. Charlie Elks, Brandon Elks, Lee Elks, Tommy Pendley, Jerrell Wilson and Carl Elks will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Annie was born in Pitt County on Sept. 26, 1934, daughter of the late Louis Moore, Sr. and the late Leona Hardy Moore. She was a 1952 graduate of Grimesland High School. Mrs. Annie married Charlie David “Sam” Elks, Sr. who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1985. She later married Charlie Campbell who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2006. Mrs. Annie was an avid bridge player, attaining the honor of Silver Life Master. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Chocowinity.
Survivors include a son: Charlie “David” Elks, II and his wife Darlene of Chocowinity; a daughter: Leigh Ann Elks Landing and her husband Steve of Chocowinity; a brother: William A. Moore of Norfolk, Va.; a sister: Dorothy Dowdle of Chula vista, Calif.; four grandchildren: Charlie Elks, III, Emilie Elks Pendley, Brandon Elks and Lee Elks; five great-grandchildren: Grace, Caleb, Jacob, Sam and Haleigh; and three step-grandchildren: Steven, Joshua and Amy Landing. Mrs. Annie was preceded in death by a brother: Louis Moore, Jr. and two sisters: Mary Jordan and Rosa Gurganus.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
