Spring Garden Missionary Baptist Church in Washington will be the setting for a new Easter musical, “I’ll Rise Again – Stronger!”

The play, written by Bill Ebison, will be presented at 4 p.m. Sunday. The performance is free and open to the public.

The musical tells the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the torment of the Rev. Strong Voice by the devil. Voice is a devoted minister who goes into the streets to bring sinners to God.

The most powerful scene in the play is the re-enactment of Jesus carrying his cross as Roman soldiers abuse and taunt him, Ebison said.

The cast includes church members

The church’s Circle Y Club, which is sponsoring the play, will serve refreshments after the performance.
