Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
The four-laning of U.S. Highway 17 south of Chocowinity to N.C. Highway 102 is the most incompetent project I have ever witnessed. It has been going on forever. I wonder if I will live long enough to see it completed.
Did anyone notice that billions of dollars in subsidies were again voted for the oil companies this week? We can’t afford this. All subsidies and tax loopholes for the rich need to end right now.
Regarding the automatic calls from Washington Electric Utilities: I hardly consider it a courtesy call when you are within the time limit of paying and you are called at 10 p.m.
I just had the scare of my life. I was driving down Swan Point Road and a child driving a golf cart pulled right in front of me. How can parents allow this? This could have been a tragedy.
Would someone at the Washington Daily News please be advised that the Kentucky Derby was run Saturday afternoon. It’s about time to put it in the paper. Tuesday may be a little too late.
Editor’s note: Last week, including Saturday, the Daily News had earlier deadlines than usual due to a relocation of our print operations. The earlier deadlines were needed in case problems arose with the change in printers. The Daily News returns to normal deadlines this week. As for the Kentucky Derby results, that race occurred after the deadline for Sunday’s paper.
The homes tour on Saturday was wonderful. Thanks so much.
