James “Pete” Wainwright

Mr. James “Pete” Wainwright, 75, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011.

The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park with pallbearers serving, Billy Mozingo, Ray, Allen, Frankie, Junior and Billy Wainwright. Pete, son of the late Will and Dessie Mae Wainwright, grew up in Pitt County. He married Marjorie Hedgepath Dec. 14, 1956. After traveling the country, they settled in Chocowinity where he owned and operated Pete’s Garage since 1973. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, James Robert Mozingo; four brothers, William, Ronald, Garland, and Floyd Wainwright.

He is survived by his: wife of 54 years, Marjorie Wainwright; daughter, Jo Ann W. Mozingo of Chocowinity; son, J.L. Wainwright and wife, Debbie, of Zebulon; grandchildren, Tobby Wainwright and wife, Allison, of Greenville; Joyce Ann Campbell, and T.J. Foreman and wife, Lana, both of Chocowinity; Stacey Bradford and husband, Virgil, of Jacksonville; Mandy Wainwright and Ashley Mozingo, both of Chocowinity; and Samantha Jones and Avery Jones, both of Zebulon; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Katelyn, R.J. Alyssa, Brendon, Virgil Junior and Chloe; brother, Frank Wainwright of Morehead, Minn.; sister, Mary Henderson of Smithfield, Va.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
